Born in Hong Kong in 1888 son of Edwin and Elizabeth Rose Mackintosh, shipowner, living in Fanshawe Mansion, Brickenden in 1901 and 79 Lancaster Gate, London in 1911.

Wartime Service

Killed in action at the Hohenzollern Redoubt during the Battle of Loos.


Additional Information

Edwin is also commemorated on his family’ plot and headstone in Hertingfordbury (St. Mary) Churchyard. His part of the inscription reads:


IN LOVING MEMORY OF EDWIN HAMPSON MACKINTOSH
LIEUTENANT 8TH. BN. THE BLACK WATCH
WHO WAS KILLED IN ACTION 25 SEP 1915 AGED 27 YEARS
AT THE HOHENZOLLERN REDOUBT BATTLE OF LOOS.
