Pre War

Born in 1885 in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire son of George Edwin Mackereth later of "Langdale," Ebury Road, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. He worked as an assistant clerk in the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway from 23 Jul 1900. He married Jeanie Elizabeth Walker on 28 Sep 1912 in the Independent Chapel, Droylsden, Lancashire and they lived at 7 Healey Terrace, Fairfield, Manchester.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in Ashton-under-Lyne formerly Private 31320, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and was killed in action near Ypres.
