Pre War

Son of John and Emily Martin, of Capel House Lodge, Waltham Cross, Herts. Born in Romford, Essex on August 11th, 1895 and was educated at Forty Hill, Enfield and Ramsbury, Wiltshire,  At one time lived in Enfield, Middx.


Before the war he worked as a gardener at Capel House, as did his father. He joined the Middlesex territorials before the war on March 6, 1914 and volunteered for overseas service after the outbreak of war.

Wartime Service

He went to France on March 12th, 1915 and died of wounds at No, 6 Casualty Clearing Station on May 15th, 1915.
