Born in 1895 in Medway, Kent son of Col. Charles Blair Mayne (R.E.) and Victoria Amelia (Moore) Mayne of Camberley, Surrey. Educated at the Imperial Service College 1911-13 (Headboy) and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich where he was awarded the Sword of Honour.

Killed in action.

Brother of Lieutenant Victor Charles Moore Mayne who was killed in action on 19 Feb 1916 and is also commemorated on these memorials. Imperial Service College was formed in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford Heath in 1942.
