Born in Harefield and the son of Robert and Sarah Miles, of 26, Mount Pleasant, Harefield, Middx. In 1901 the family lived at 4 Troy Mill Cottage, West Hyde. Alfred then had 3 older brothers. In 1911 they were living in Harefield, The census showed that there were 4 living childred and 2 who had died.
Additional Information
John's brother Aldred also served and died and in remembered on the West Hyde memorial.
