Pre War

George Henry Morgan was born on 22 February 1880 in Richmond, Surrey, the son and eldest child of George and Annie Morgan. The following year the family were listed on the 1891 Census living at 65 Houlton Road, Richmond, Surrey, where his father was working as a Carpenter.

On the 1901 Census they had moved to at Albert Road, Richmond, Surrey although his father was not registered with them and his mother was given as the Head. (N.B. both parents were listed on the 1911 Census, living at 25 Crutched Friars, London. 

He emigrated to Canada on the Pretorian in March 1907, and served as a Police Constable.  He was unmarried. 

Wartime Service

George enlisted on 24 September 1914 at Valcartier, Canada. 


Unable to locate him on CWGC website.  It is believed this soldier survived the war. 

Additional Information

Brother Frederick Morgan also served with the Canadian forces and was killed in action on 4 June 1916. Brother Ernest Leonard served with British forces and died on 26 October 1917. They had a sister who was a nurse at the 2nd General Hospital at Le Havre.
