Pre War

Frederick was born on 12 August 1893 in Richmond, Surrey, the son and youngest child of George and Annie Morgan and one of twelve children. On the 1901 Census the family were living at Albert Road, Richmond, Surrey although his father was not registered with them and his mother was given as the Head. 


He emigrated to Canada on 17 March 1910 on board the Dominion, which sailed to Halifax Nova Scotia, when he gave his occupation as Carter. 


His parents and siblings Herbert, Dorothy and Leonard were living at 25 Crutched Friars, London in 1911 where his father was working as a Carpenter. 

Wartime Service

Frederick enlisted at Niagra Camp, Canada on 5 June 1915 and served with the 42nd Battalion, Canadian Infantry. 


He was killed in action on 4 June 1916 at Hooge, near Ypres, Belgium. He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate), Belgium. 

Additional Information

Brother George Henry also served with the Canadian forces. Brother Ernest Leonard served with British forces. Ernest's name also appears on the Codicote and Peace Memorial Hall memorials. Their sister, Florence Ellen was a nurse at the 2nd General Hospital at Le Havre after having been up the line at a dressing station for a considerable period.
