Royal Masonic School Memorial, Rickmansworth

Pre War

Born on 27 Nov 1891 in Fleetwood, Lancashire son of George Phillips and Elizabeth Jane Collister Mulock. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1902-07.

Wartime Service

Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant South Staffordshire Regiment. Mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 15 May 1917). He obtained his flying certificate on 14 Jan 1916 at Military School, Birmingham and was put in charge of all photographic work in the Squadron. He was shot down by three enemy aircraft while he was taking photographs of the country behind enemy lines and was killed instantly.
