Pre War

Born in 1891 in Boxmoor, Hertfordshire son of George Edward and Rosa (Hawkes) Munday and was living there in 1891 and 1901.


He married Louisa May Roberts on 22 Oct 1910 in Hertford Register Office and was living with his father-in-law in 7 Talbot Street, Hertford in 1911. He had two children. He then lived in 27 Railway Place, Hertford in 1915 and was a boot maker and a Salvationist.

Wartime Service

He enlisted at Hertford Private 4655 in the Hertfordshire Territorials on 19 Feb 1915, appointed Sergeant on 23 Aug 1915 and transferred to the 5th Bedfordshires on 12 Jul 1917.


He embarked at Felixstowe on 12 Feb 1918 to Le Havre, transferred to the 1st Norfolks and then arrived at the front on 20 Feb 1918. He was killed in action.
