Pre War

Born at Shephall. Baptised in Datchworth on 11 June 1893 son of John & Emily Myers. John was born in Datchworth (some records say Shephall, but baptised in Datchworth) in 1893 son of John and Emily Myers registered as Johnnie. His parents had been living in Datchworth in 1891 before he was born, when his father was described as a agricultural labourer. In 1901 they were living in Shephall and his father was a farm bailiff, so his father appears to have bettered himself. In 1911 they were still living in Shephall, with John described as a horsekeeper and his father as a farm foreman.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Hitchin into the Bedfordshire Regt. Arrived in France August 1915, so he was a volunteer. May have been killed in bombardment and raid on 4th May 1916.
