Son of Emma Caroline (nee SPIRES) and the late William John NAYLOR; husband of Elizabeth Annie (nee BREWER) NAYLOR.


His parents married 23 October 1886 at St Mary’s, Watford.  William died 1896 in the Eton, Bucks, district aged 38, and was buried 21 February at St John the Baptist, Eton; Emma died 1950 in the Surrey Mid E district aged 80.


William was born 1887 in Watford, and baptised 9 March 1887 at St John the Evangelist, Watford.  He married 25 December 1910 at St Mary’s, Watford; they had two children.  He resided in Watford.  Elizabeth remarried 25 December 1922 at St Mary’s, Watford, to Ralph POTTER; she died 17 December 1959 in Watford aged 71, and was buried 22 December in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford.


On the 1891 Census, at school aged 4 he lived in Eton, with his parents and two siblings.  On the 1901 Census, an ordinary agricultural labourer aged 14, he lived in Leavesden, Herts, with his widowed mother and three siblings.  On the 1911 Census, a cowman aged 24, he lived in Watford, with his wife and no children.


Officially recorded as born, living and enlisted in Watford.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Watford; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died from pneumonia.  

Additional Information

Unfortunately, William’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
