Born on 7 Apr 1883 in Cork, Ireland son of Col. Edgar Dering (K.O. Scottish Borderers) and Marianna Emily (Harding) Dering. Educated at Haileybury College 1896-1900 and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 18 Jan 1902, Lieutenant 29 Nov 1905. He married Helen Dering of 49 Brompton Square, Chelsea, London on 6 Aug 1914.

Wartime Service

He entered France on 15 Aug 1914 and was killed in action at Hill 60.
