Pre War

Bevan John Nolan was born in Garnavilla, Cahir, Co. Tipperrary. His father was Walter Nolan, Clerk of the Crown and Peace, and mother Frances Marion. He was the second son of four boys and he had an elder sister.

Wartime Service

He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant  5 Oct 1915 in 4th Battalion Royal Irish Regiment after training in OTC.


He went to France 20 July 1916 and while attached to 'C' Company, 2nd Battalion he died in action near Ginchy.

Additional Information

His mother, Mrs. Frances M. Nolan of Garnavilla, Cahir, Co. Tipperary, ordered is headstone inscription: "HE WAS RECEIVED UP INTO HEAVEN AND SAT ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD" MARK XVI.19"
