Pre War

Born on 1 Mar 1889 and baptised on 26 May 1889 in Hoddesdon son of Frederick William and Ellen Louisa Nunn and lived in 121 Lord Street, Hoddesdon in 1891. He was a baker.

Wartime Service

Joined the Navy in 1907. HMS Arethusa, a cruiser and flotilla leader of the Harwich Force, fought in the Battle of Heligoland Bight when she was seriously damaged by the German cruisers SMS Frauenlob and SMS Stettin and had to be towed home. Frederick Nunn was among 11 officers and men killed in this engagement.

Brother of Private Charles Bertie Nunn who was killed in action on 20 Apr 1916 and who is also commemorated on these memorials.
