Pre War

Born on 17 Jun 1891 in Fore Street, Hertford and baptised on 1 Oct 1897 in Much Hadham son of Harry William and Christine Laura Dewey. The family was living in 12 Fore Street, Hertford by 1891 and in Much Hadham in 1901 and in 1911 he was in Perry Green working as an under gardener.


He was possibly a member of staff at Haileybury College and was unmarried.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Hertford and died of wounds in the 2nd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station at Lijssenthoek.

Additional Information

Son of Private Henry William Dewey who died on 18 Feb 1918 and brother of Private Charles William Dewey who died on 23 Feb 1917 and who are also commemorated on these memorials.
