Born on 29 Jul 1887 in Brockley, Kent son of John Octavius and Mary Jane Abbott later of The Priory, Burbage Road, Herne Hill, London.


Educated at Royal Masonic School 1895-1902. He married Millicent Abbott in 1914 and they lived in "St. Margarets," Oxenden Square, Herne Bay, Kent with one child. He was a stockbroker’s jobber.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in London in the Army Pay Corps on 6 Oct 1914 and transferred to The Buffs on 26 Jan 1916.


He was reported missing on the third day of the Battle of the Somme last being seen near the enemy’s barbed wire.

Additional Information

Brother of Private Reginald Frederick William Abbott who was killed in action on 16 Jun 1915 with the Honourable Artillery Company.
