Pre War

He served in France from 16 August 1914. Death was presumed on or since 7 November 1914 during the 1st Battle of Ypres.

They were in trenches to the south east of Ypres near Hooge when the enemy broke through the line. They were driven back but Charles was one of many casualties that day, with 7 officers and 140 other ranks killed or wounded and 7 missing.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Hertford and served in the Hertfordshire Regiment.

He died in action during the Battle of Ancre Heights (Battle of the Somme 1916).

Additional Information

His sister Agnes L Page received a war gratuity of £3 and pay owing of £4 11s 8d.
