Son of William James and Mary Jane (nee BORTHWICK) ADAMS of Watford, Northamptonshire.


His parents married 25 December 1885 at St Mary’s, Rotherhithe, London.


William was born 11 January 1887 in Finchley, and baptised 6 February 1887 at St James’, Muswell Hill, Middx,  He resided in Watford.


On the 1891, 1901 and 1911 Census, he is proving elusive.


Officially recorded as born in Watford Herts. (sic Northamptonshire) and was living there when he enlisted in Northampton.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Finchley, Middx; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 24 February 1915, and died at 3 Field Ambulance of wounds received in action.

Unfortunately, William’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
