Pre War

Alfred Parr was born in Balderton, Newark, Nottinghamshire in 1897 to George and Sarah Ann Parr.


On the 1911 Census he was living with his family at South Muskham, Newark and working as a Bakers Assistant. In mid 1917 he married Daisy Bass in Bishop's Stortford. She was living at 25 Newton Road, Bishop's Stortford at the time of his death. 

Wartime Service

He enlisted at Lincoln and initially served with the 3rd Lincolnshire Yeomanry, later transferring to the 7th Battalion, London Regiment.


He died at the 46th Casualty Clearing Station, France which was at Noyon in February and March 1918.

Additional Information

His widow Daisy received a war gratuity of £12 10s and pay owing of £6 7s 5d. She also received a pension of 13s 9d a week from 16 September 1918.
