Pre War

Born in Bayford, Herts. in Aug 1873 son of Orlando and Rebecca Allen. Living in Bayford in 1891 as a plumber’s apprentice. Married Annie Burton on 28 Mar 1903. They had one son born 12 Sep 1904 in Chelsea Barracks, London. Enlisted in Coldstream Guards in Hertford on 7 Sep 1891 appointed L/Cpl 23 Apr 1895, promoted to Corporal on 12 Sep 1896 and Sergt on 1 Sep 1898. Served in South Africa 1900-02 and in Egypt 1906-08. Discharged on 6 Sep 1912 after 21 years of service.

Wartime Service

Presumably re-enlisted at the outbreak of war. He died in Queen Alexandra Military Hospital, London.
