Joseph Frederick Leslie Parsons was born on 20 Jun 1896 in East Finchley (baptised 15 Jul 1896 at All Saints, Highgate) to Joseph Parsons, accountant & zinc merchant’s clerk and Laura Anne (nee Preston).
On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Joseph, Aleck H L (born 1901) together with a servant Polly Farrow were living at 71, Park Hall Road, East Finchley.
He attended King; College , Strand 1910-12.
On the 1911 Census the family of parents, Joseph and Aleck were living at the same address.
His parents came to live at "Kineton," Little Heath, Potters Bar,
Wartime Service
Joseph volunteered as Private 3280 in the Honourable Artillery Company which although providing 5 Batteries of Artillery also raised 2 Battalions of Infantry on 24 Mar 1915 he was posted to 3rd (Reserve) Battalion. Joseph had volunteered of overseas service and went to France with the newly raised 2nd Battalion departing Southampton on 1 Oct 1916 arriving at Le Havre on 3 Oct 1916. Joseph served as a Signaller.
Joseph contacted pneumonia and died at 29 Casualty Clearing Station at Doullens on 11 Feb 1917.
Additional Information
War Gratuity of £8 1s and arrears of £7 4s 3d was paid to his father.
