Pre War

Gerald Charles was second son of Charles Spence Tate (Clerk to Tea Broker) and Emma Elizabeth (nee Edmed). He attended Aldenham School just prior to the out break of war together with his older brother.

Wartime Service

He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in 3rd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment in Aug 1914 and was soon in France.


He died of wounds 21 Mar 1915 and is buried in Bailleul Cemetery, Belgium.

Additional Information

Elder brother Archibald B S Tate served as 2nd Lieutenant Royal Engineers in Salonika about Oct 1918.
