Son of Julia (nee KINGHAM) ALMOND of Watford and the late Richard Edward ALMOND; husband of Ethel Victoria (nee PITMAN) ALMOND.
His parents married 1885 in the Aylesbury, Bucks, district. Richard died 10 February 1916 in Ramsgate, Kent, aged 58; Julia died 21 August 1924 in an ambulance on the way to Ramsgate from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, aged 63.
George was born 1886 in Watford, and married 21 August 1912 in the Richmond, Surrey, district; they had two children. Ethel never remarried, and died 8 April 1951 in East Twickenham, Middx, aged 64.
On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 4 he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 14 he still lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1911 Census, an ironmonger aged 24, he was a boarder in Bracknell.
Wartime Service
He attested for the Duration of the War, 12 December 1915 at Ascot, Berks: a grocer of Bracknell, Berks. He embarked Portsmouth 8 July 1917, disembarked Basra, Mesopotamia, 30 August 1917, and was posted to B.M.T.D. 28 September 1917. He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died at the 33rd British General Hospital, Basra, from smallpox.
