Born on 31 August 1892 in Weston, Herts, son of John & Sarah Ambrose of Post Office Row, Weston, Herts. Baptised in Holy Trinity Church, Weston on 2 October 1892. 1911 Census: living with family at Green End, Weston and working as a horseman on a farm. Worked for Mr Farr before enlistment.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in Bedford in December 1914. In France by September 1915. Early in 1916 he was wounded in the foot and after convalescence in England, returned to France in November. Killed in action during the battle for Gavrelle.
