Born on 7 Mar 1880 Sydney, Australia son of Frederick Jennings and Florence Ellen (Winthrop) Armstrong. Educated at Haileybury 1894-97. Became an actor manager. He was unmarried.

Wartime Service

On the outbreak of the war he enlisted in the Gloucestershire Territorials in Aug 1914 and was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in the Somerset Light Infantry on 25 Jan 1915. Entered France in July 1915. Mentioned in Dispatches (1 Jan 1916) and was killed in action in the trenches near Armentieres.
