Victor Alfred William BONNEY (AYLOTT) was born in the early part of 1897, in Sheering, Essex, son of Frederick William Bonney and Elizabeth Eliza Bonney (nee Chipperfield). They had three children; one died in infancy. His parents were married on 10th July 1895, at the church of St Mary the Virgin.
He was Baptised Victor Alfred William Bonney, on 4th July 1897 at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Sheering, Essex.
His father Frederick William Bonney died in 1899, aged 27.
1901 Census records Victor Bonney aged 4, is at school. Victor, his mother Elizabeth Bonney and brother Reginald (Reggie) Bonney (5), are living with his widower uncle, John Aylott a carpenter and his son Walter (30), a painter, at The Cottages, Ware Road, Hoddesdon, Herts.
Believed to have been educated at Broxbourne C Of E Primary School, Broxbourne.
Elizabeth re married in mid-1901, in Enfield, Middx, to Walter John Aylott, they went on to have four children.
1911 Census records him as Victor Aylott (14), a Domestic House Boy, living with his mother Elizabeth Aylott, brother Reginald Aylott (15) and half brother Jack Aylott (8), at 39 Whitley Road, Rye Park, Hoddesdon, Herts, His mother’s father-in-Law John Aylott is living with the family. No 1911 Census record was found for his stepfather Walter Aylott.
Wartime Service
Victor enlisted as Victor Aylott, at Hoddesdon, Herts, posted to the Norfolk Regiment and issued with the service No. 40614, on completion of his training he was sent to the Western Front, he initially served with the 1st Battalion, at the time of his death he was with the 7th Battalion.
Victor was wounded in action, possible during the Battle of the Scarpe, he died in hospital possible at Etaples, of his wounds, on 21st May 1917, aged 20, he is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, France. Grave Ref: XXV. C. 10.

Pension Card exists for his mother Elizabeth as a
dependent, but no pension amount is recorded. His mother received his war
gratuity of £4.
