Pre War
Albert George PHILPOT was born on 18th March 1899, in Aldbury, Hertfordshire, son of James Philpot an Estate Gamekeeper and Rose/Rosa Gwendoline Philpot (nee Buck). One of their six children.
He was Baptised on 7th May 1899, in the Parish of Aldbury, Herts.
The 1901 Census records Albert aged 2, living with his parents, sister Annie (4), brothers, William (3) and Frederick (2 months), at Old Farm House, Stocks Road, Aldbury, Herts.
1911 Census, Albert aged 12, is at school, living with his parents, two sisters and three brothers, at Stocks Cottages, Aldbury, Herts.
Wartime Service
Albert enlisted in Watford, Herts, posted to the Suffolk Regiment with the service No. 51518, later transferred to the South Staffordshire Regiment with the service No. 43605. On completion of his training Albert was sent to the Western Front. He died on 26th October 1918, aged 19, he is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. Grave ref: S. II. KK. 22.
Additional Information
His mother Rosa Gwendoline Philpot received a dependents pension of 5/- a week from 22nd July 1919.
His effects of £9-02s-05d, pay owing and his war gratuity of £8, went to his father James Philpot.
