Born on 22 Jul 1891 in Hertford and baptised in St Andrews Church, Hertford on 16 Aug 1891 son of Lt. Col. Herbert Baker, V.D. Hertfordshire Regiment and Lilian Constance (Hancock) Baker, of 27, North Crescent, Hertford. He worked in the brewing industry.

Wartime Service

Formerly in the Artists' Rifles, Lieutenant Baker was seconded to the Colonial Office in January 1917 and died at Wuransi in German East Africa whilst attached to the Nigeria Regiment, W.A.F.F.
