In June 1896, aged 18, James was serving in the 4th Bedfordshire Regiment. He was enlisted in the Leicestershire Regiment as Private 4661. 


On 25 June 1908, he re-enlisted in the Army with his address given as 70 Sopwell Lane, St Albans.

Wartime Service

Died of wounds.
