Pre War

Thomas Baldwin was born on 14 May 1897 in Farnham, Essex to Arthur and Charlotte Baldwin. On the 1911 Census he was living with his parents and 5 siblings at Walnut Tree Cottages, Farnham, Essex, when he was aged 13 and working as a farm labourer.

Wartime Service

Thomas enlisted in Ampthill, Beds into the 6th Bn, Bedfordshire Regiment and served in France. 


 

Additional Information

His father Arthur received a war gratuity of £3 10s and pay owing of £3 19s 1d. N.B. the CWGC information states, that Thomas Baldwin's father lives at Farnham, Bishop's Stortford. Although Farnham is near Bishop's Stortford, it is in the county of Essex. Bishop's Stortford is in Hertfordshire.
