Pre War

Son of Harry and Hannah Ball, of Braughing; husband of Rosetta E. Ball, of The Bungalow, Braughing, Ware, Herts. Living in Braughing, when he enlisted in Hertford. He was employed as a bricklayer.


His wife, Rosetta, was the sister of wife of Allbert Poyser who survived the war and whose biography can be see under Ware's listings.


Jack and Rose Ball had three children.  Muriel Gwendoline (Gwen) was born in 1911, Iris Violet in 1913 and Eric John in 1914.  Eric died in 1922.  Aunt Rose and the two girls emigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1924. 

Wartime Service

Formerly 3766 Hertfordshire Regiment. He served in France and Belgium and was killed in action at Passchendaela.
