Arthur Rupert Poggi was born in 1897 to George Arginstall Poggi (Wine & Spirit Merchant) and Lilian Mary (nee Pearce). He was their only son but had two elder sisters.


Wartime Service

Arthur entered military service through the Inns of Court OTC (Ser. Num. 7472) and posted to 26th Bn. Royal Fusiliers but other records show him with 5 Kings Regt (L’pool) on 22 Jun 1917 to 07 Jul 1917 with Ser. Num. 203705 and transferred to 26th Bn. Royal Fusiliers (London Regt.) from 08 Jul 1917 to 02 Aug 1918 (Ser. Num.228407).
