William John Rowland Ernest Poole was the only son of William Poole and May (nee Annadelia Jemima  Slacke).


He was educated at Clifton College. Harrogate and Aldenham School, Herts. He became an articled clerk in the firm of JW Render.


Wartime Service

He enlisted 2 Sep 1914, gazetted as 2nd lieutenant in Jul 1915, serving with BEF from Nov 1915 with 4  (Hallamshire) Battalion, Yorks & Lancaster Regiment. His last promotion to Lieutenant came shortly before he died on 9 Oct 1917.
