Pre War

Born in 1890 in Farnham, Essex son of Alfred George and Ann Agnes Bayford and lived in 4 New Cottages, Wareside in 1911. He married Ethel Victoria May on 17 Nov 1915 in Ware and lived in the Dog House, Wareside and later at 15 Croft Road, Ware. He was a railway signalman and porter before he signed up.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Bedford on 7 Dec 1915 and served in the Army Reserve. He was mobilised on 20 Jul 1918 and died at Minster Hospital, Sheppey of influenza and pneumonia after only 15 weeks service.
