Pre War

Born on 6 Feb 1892 in Bermondsey, London son of Frederick Ralph and Julia Dodd. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1901-07 and then went to sea.

Wartime Service

Joined the Army in 1910 and became an Instructor in Physical Training. He entered France on 4 Oct 1914 and fought at Mons. He was wounded in Dec 1914 but returned to the front. He was recommended for a commission in 1915 but was killed by a shell at Givenchy before he could come to England for his training.
