Haileybury College Cloister Wall Memorial, Hertford Heath

Pre War

Born on 10 Oct 1892 in Balham, London son of Edward and Sarah Elizabeth Ranson later of Wakefield, South View, Basingstoke, Hampshire. Educated at Haileybury College 1906-10. He became a pupil farmer.

Wartime Service

Formerly enlisted on 4 Apr 1913 Private 327 9th (Cyclist) Bn. Hampshire Regiment at Southampton. He was discharged to attend the Royal Military College, Sandhurst on 12 May 1915 and obtained a commission in the Worcestershire Regiment. Entered France on 16 Apr 1917 and was killed in action during the successful recapture of Epehy on the Somme.
