Born on 16 Jul 1885 in Chislehurst, Kent son of Louis and Agnes Birkett of 3 Summer Hill, Chislehurst, Kent, England. Educated at Haileybury College 1889-1902 and the South Eastern Agricultural College, Wye. Worked in Borneo for two years and then went to the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada. He married Muriel Vida Pope (later Kelly) in British Columbia on 10 Apr 1912.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 15 May 1915 and came to England where he was appointed Sergeant Instructor in bomb throwing, musketry etc. He entered France in Jun 1916 and was killed in action near Pozieres by shell fire. He was buried by his comrades where he died but his grave was subsequently lost.
