Pre War

Born in Aug 1866 in Hanover Square, London. Living with great uncle in Eccleston Square, Pimlico in 1871. Educated at Haileybury College 1880–84. Commissioned Lieutenant on 25 Aug 1886, Captain on 1 Apr 1896 and Major on 7 May 1904.

Wartime Service

At the outbreak of the war the battalion was in Malta. It returned to Southampton on 22 Sep 1914 and soon left for France. Lt Col Bliss was killed in action with many of his men at Neuve Chapelle.
