Royal Masonic School Memorial, Rickmansworth

Pre War

Born on 28 Apr 1893 in Coventry son of Arthur Anderson and Ellen Bones. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1901-09. He emigrated to South Africa.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in Apr 1913 in the Cape Mounted Rifles and served in German West and German East Africa later obtaining a commission in the King’s African Rifles. He was killed in action at N’gomeni, Nyasaland after his small force of 216 had withstood 700 Germans for eight days.
