Henry Harry was born was born on 28 Jan 1894 in Harpenden to John Roberts, a butler and Elizabeth (nee Townley).


On the 1901 Census the Family were in living in Wexham, Bucks, (Harry’s father may have still been working at Hornby Castle in Lancashire). On the 1911 Census the family were at Queens Road, Harpenden and Harry was working as an auxiliary postman.

Wartime Service

Harry enlisted in the Bedfordshire Regiment and was serving with the 8th (Service) Battalion occupying trenches at Mazingarbe, near Lens, France when he died of wounds on 23 May 1917.
