Pre War

Albert William Robinson was born on 18 July 1891 in Therfield, Hertfordshire, the son of Annie M Robinson, and baptised in Therfield on 15 November 1891. 


On the 1901 Census Albert was living at Tuthill, Therfield with his mother Annie, widowed grandmother Elizabeth Robinson and uncle James Robinson. 


His mother married John Scripps in 1906 and on the 1911 Census Albert was living with his stepfather and mother at Well Yard, Barkway, Royston, Herts and was working as a farm labourer. 

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Hitchin and served with the 1/5th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. 


Albert died of enteric fever at No. 76 Casualty Clearing Station at Ludd, Palestine on 24 October 1918 and is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Palestine. 

Additional Information

His mother received a war gratuity of £17 10s and pay owing of £11 16s 9d. No pension records have been found.
