Pre War

Born in Boston Lincolnshire in 1886, one of 10 children of Joseph and Hannah. In 1891 the family were living at 6, Glen Street, Cheetham, Manchester. By 1911 he was a regular soldier serving with the South Lancashire Regiment.


In 1913, he married Gertrude Lowin, a girl from a family living in Northaw, who at the time of his death, was shown living at Bay Tree Cottage, Northaw.
