Pre War

Born in 1890 to George and Sarah Budd the family lived in Knight Hill, Westmill. In the 1911 Census he is shown as living with his parents and one brother in Thrift Cottage, Westmill. Charles is listed as a farm labourer. His attestation papers signed in 1915 give his and his families address as Newtown Buntingford.

Wartime Service

He enlisted at Hertford. He was killed in action on 19th June 1916.

On the Commonwealth War Graves Commission web site it says he was attached to the 254th Tunnelling Coy. Royal Engineers.
