Royal Masonic School Memorial, Rickmansworth

Pre War

Born on 20 Aug 1894 son of Frederick George and Ethel Sophia Burfield (later Mrs Cockburn) of 164 Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1903-10, he was an apprentice in the Locomotive Works of the Great Central Railway for 5 years.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in the Royal Navy on 8 Jan 1916 and served on HMS Vivid. He died of “spotted fever” shortly afterwards.
