Born on 7 Sep 1895 in Johannesburg, South Africa son of Charles Harcourt Vernon and Lauvetta Eliza (Daly-Cocking) Ruxton. Educated at Haileybury College 1909–12. Worked for the Victoria Falls Power Company in Johannesburg. Joined the South African Defence Force in 1913. He was unmarried.

Wartime Service

On the outbreak of war, he enlisted in the Imperial Light Horse in Aug 1914 and was promoted to Lance Corporal in Sep. He was killed in action against the rebellion in the Northern Cape.
