Stanley John Burt was born in 1893 in Battersea, London to Joseph Burt, stonemason, and Jane (nee Collins).


On the 1891 Census Joseph and Jane together with, Elizabeth Collins (Jane’s sister born 1883) were living at 11, Gt Chesterfield Street, Marylebone. London.


On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Elsie (born 1892), Stanley, Bessie L (born 1899), James (born 1900) and Walter S Matters (boarder. master mariner, born 1872) were living at 103, Thorparch Road, Lambeth.


On the 1911 Census the family of parents, Stanley ( a clerk),  Bessie L , James (born 1900), Hilda (born 1904), Dorothy (born 1905), Frederick (born 1908) and Ethel (born 1908) were living at 15, Borrodale Road, St Annes Hill , Wandsworth.

Wartime Service

Stanley enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Private on 5 Oct 1914, his serial number was 30096.


Details of his service seem to hve been lost but he must have served in France (information from Medal Card) and may have been attached to Royal Flying Corps as he was transferred to Royal Air Force as 301750, Private 2nd Class on 24 Sep 1918. at the Instructional School Wing,  He was hospitalised and died on 22 Oct 1918.

War Gratuity of £19 and arrears of £7 17s 9d was paid to his father.
