Born about 1880 in Eastwick, Herts. In the 1891 census shown living with father David Saville and 4 siblings in Ware workhouse.


Recorded as born in Eastwick and living in Stanstead Abbots when he enlisted in Hertford.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in 1st Battalion Bedfordshire Regt. Unit took part in 1st Battle of the Somme from July 1916. His Company were in a new trench line between High Wood and Delville Wood and while digging a new line they came under heavy artillery fire. It may have been at this point that William was killed.
