Pre War

Born in 1893, in Hunsdon, to parents Benjamin and Emma, he was one of eleven children, having three brothers and seven sisters. In the 1911 census they were living in Whitehall Cottages, Hunsdon, his father was a horse keeper on a farm and Frank was a cowman.

Wartime Service

Joined the 5th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regt (Yellow Devils), a Territorial Unit in 1915. They were sent to Gallipoli in August 1915 where they landed at Suvla Bay. They fought there until December 1915 when they were evacuated back to Egypt, where the Gallipoli survivors were rebuilt. The battalion then spent a year guarding the Suez Canal. The battalion then moved to Palestine and fought in the three battles for Gaza between March and November 1917. They then moved into the Jordan valley from February 1918. Frank died of wounds after being shot while on duty in trenches near Kurnet El Haramiyeh, one of 4 casualties on 29/03/1918.
