Born on 20 Sep 1880 in 12 Cranley Gardens, Kensington, London son of Maj. Gen. Frederick Lorn (late of the Scots Guards) and Caroline Anna (Smyth) Campbell and baptised on 3 Dec 1880 in St Peter’s Church, Kensington. He was educated at Stubbington and Haileybury College 1894–95. He married Helen Margaret Stewart on 11 Jun 1914 in the Guards Chapel, London. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant Cameron Highlanders from the Militia on 5 Jan 1901, Lieutenant 3 Oct 1904 and transferred to the Scots Guards on 29 Mar 1905. Adjutant of the Guards Depot at Caterham 1911–13.

Wartime Service

Promoted to Captain on 29 Oct 1914, the day on which he was killed in action at Gheluvelt, near Ypres.
