*1 Frederick is commemorated on his mother’s headstone in Stevenage (St. Nicholas) Churchyard, his part of the inscription reads:

FREDERICK JAMES CANNON, SERGEANT KINGS LIVERPOOL REGIMENT, SON OF THE ABOVE [Fanny Cannon], KILLED IN ACTION AT DAVINCI, MARCH 10TH 1915. AGE 23 YEARS. BURIED IN FRANCE.
HE LED HIS MEN EXTREMELY WELL. OFFICER COMMANDING B COMPANY FIRST KINGS.
